London Explorer Pass: Advantages & disadvantages

What we like about the Explorer Pass

There are many arguments in favour of the Explorer Pass:

  • The London Explorer Pass gives you free entry to many attractions in London. This includes most of the city's top sights.
  • With the Explorer Pass you have free travel on the hop-on hop-off bus and the boat on the Thames. You can also take part in guided city walks and a guided bike tour.
  • The number of attractions you can visit is flexible. Decide for yourself whether you want to visit 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 attractions with the Explorer Pass. This pass is therefore also suitable for visitors who don't want to visit too many attractions.
  • The Explorer Pass is valid for 30 days from the first use.
  • Conveniently download the digital Explorer Pass to your phone and scan the QR code at the participating attractions. The Go City app also contains useful information on all attractions and tourist services.
  • The price-performance ratio is good: if you mainly visit expensive attractions, you save money. The more expensive services you use, the more money you save.
  • All in all, the Explorer Pass is a very practical product. Everything is paid for with a single booking. You hardly need any other tickets. Simply load the pass onto your mobile phone and off you go.

What we don't like about the Explorer Pass

Although the London Explorer Pass is a very good product, there are also some disadvantages that we would like to point out:

  • London Explorer Pass does not offer priority access to the attractions. You must queue at the box office to collect your free ticket.
  • Public transport cannot be used with the Explorer Pass.
  • For some services you have to make a reservation yourself.
  • Some attractions are not included in Explorer Pass: Madame Tussauds, HMS Belfast, Windsor Castle, London Eye and London Dungeon.
  • The Explorer Pass is not worthwhile for many of the included attractions. It is recommended that you only use the pass for attractions worth £25 or more.

Is the London Explorer Pass worth it?

We believe that the London Explorer Pass is suitable for visitors who want to do little sightseeing and mainly visit expensive attractions. In the table opposite you can see the individual prices of some of the top attractions that can be visited with the London Explorer Pass.

For cheap attractions that cost less than £25, the Explorer Pass is not worthwhile. In this case, you are better off buying individual tickets.

With a validity of 30 days, time is not an issue. Another advantage is that you don't have to collect the London Explorer Pass, but can use it by phone.

One disadvantage is that you have to take care of some reservations yourself. In addition, you don't enjoy priority entry and have to expect waiting times at some attractions.
